Your one-rep max

iPHONEANDROID

Your one-rep max is the most you could lift once. Pump works it out from the sets you already log, so you never have to test it. It’s on from the start.

How Pump works it out

  • It uses your best working set of 1 to 10 reps from the last 12 weeks.
  • A set tagged Failure, or rated with RPE, tells Pump how many reps you had left. That makes the estimate sharper.
  • Warm-ups and drop sets never count.
  • It rounds down, so your real max is usually a bit higher.

Where you see it

  • In a workout, tap ⋯ on an exercise, then View History. Your max sits above the chart. Switch the chart between Weight and Est. 1RM. Tap ⋯ at the top, then How is this calculated?, for the details.
  • On Home, add the One Rep Max widget to keep a lift’s max in view. Add more than one for more lifts.
  • On the weight keypad, tap ⋯ and turn on Show 1RM. The keypad shows your max and what percent of it you’ve typed. Keys for 60% to 90% fill in that share, rounded to the nearest plate.
  • Finish a workout with a new estimated max and Pump shows a recap of each one, biggest gain first. Tap share to post it as a story card.
  • Ask PumpIQ for a lift’s max, or to set your loads from it.

Settings

In Settings, open Exercise Settings, then One Rep Max.

  • Estimate my maxes turns maxes off everywhere in Pump. Your workouts don’t change.
  • Celebrate new maxes turns the recap after a workout on or off.
  • Add a max you’ve tested lets you type a max you’ve lifted, or a training max your program asks for. Pump uses it until a logged set estimates higher.
  • Start estimates over… is for after an injury or a long break. Check the lifts, and they ignore every set before today. Your workouts stay.

Bodyweight lifts, like pull-ups, need your body weight. Tap Add body weight in that lift’s History. Their max reads as the weight you add, like +45 lb.
